Complete in two volumes.

A lovely exploration of the collecting of English books, from 1475 to 1900, a fantastic bibliographical work which explores the history of publishing in the country, as well as offering advice on the worth of various titles and editions. 

Volume I, covering Caxton to Johnson, is illustrated with one folding plate, and in-text illustrations.

Volume II, covering Gray to Kipling, is illustrated in-text throughout.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart, with light marks to the boards and spines. Light discolouration to the spines. Spots to the fore edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the half-title of Volume II.
