Rosenbach was known as "Le Napoléon des Livres", and "the Greatest Bookdealer in the World". He advanced the idea of book collecting as a means for investment, and during his career he bought and sold eight Gutenberg Bibles, more than thirty of Shakespeare's First Folio, and the manuscripts of 'Ulysses' and 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, forty-one plates, and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.
Condition
In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the leather. A few minor marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spine is discoloured. A small amount of wear to the tail of the front joint. Gift inscription to the recto of the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean.
