James Baikie was an early 20th century Scottish prolific writer, who wrote on subjects such as astronomy, the bible and ancient history. His intentions with this work were to bring to light an adequate light to the work of excavation, an area he believed to be lacking. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece and thirty-one monochrome plates. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with shelf wear. Gilt has rubbed off to front board title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers only.
