The collected essays and papers of Robert Seymour Bridges, a British poet who was Poet Laureate from 1913 to 1930. Trained as a doctor, he achieved literary fame only late in life, with his poems reflecting a deep Christian faith. He was also the author of many well-known hymns. Condition
In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with minor wear and light bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spines with sunning and light chipping to the spine labels. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Previous owners' bookplates to the front pastedown and front endpaper.
