The 1926 seventh impression of this work, first published in 1911.
Included in this collection is Crawford's tale of the haunted stateroom, 'The Upper Berth,' an enduringly popular ghost story. Also present is the vampire story 'For the Blood is Life,' and ghost tales 'The Screaming Skull' and 'The Dead Smile.'
Sullivan of 'The Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural' regards this as a 'legendary collection of ghost and horror stories [...] among the best in weird fiction'.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with a touch of fading to back strip. Light handling marks to rear board, otherwise externally excellent. Inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
