1926 The Seekers
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
The first edition of H.E. Bates's children's classic The Seekers, published by John and Edward Bumpus in 1926.
In the publisher's original paper cover boards.
With a loosely inserted gift note from the publishers.
Dedicated to 'all children who ask why', Bates wrote the short, fantastical classic while working in the very same bookshop which published his book. The publisher's printed it originally as a supplement to the Map of Fairyland, before they deemed it too exceptional. It was then offered as a Christmas gift in its own right from a 'young and brilliant' writer.
