This work was written by English historian and ornithologist William Warde Fowler and features a collections of charming stories about a variety of birds. The work includes; 'A Winter's Tale', 'Out of Tune', 'A Jubilee Sparrow', 'The Falcon's Nest', 'A Debate in an Orchard', 'A Tragedy in Rooke Life', 'A Question Beginning with "Why"', "The Lighthouse' and 'The Owl's Revenge'.

Condition

In the publisher's calf with the original slipcase. Externally very smart with the odd slight mark to the boards, bumping to the extremities, slight fading to the spine with a very small closed tear to the head and slight rubbing to the tail and minimal loss to the tail of the spine and to the extremities to the tail of the rear board. An old ink inscription dated 1989 to the front free endpaper with light spotting to the rear endpapers. Internally firmly bound with generally clean and bright pages with the odd spot only. The slipcase is sound with with rubbing to the extremities, the odd slight mark, a closed tear to the tail of the front, a failed joint to the top and slight fading to the top.
