    The limited first edition, limited to one thousand five hundred copies, of which this is numbered one thousand and fifty seven.

    An exploration of how ships developed from 1800 to 1860, in particular the ships that were used for war, providing an insightful analysis on the evolution of naval ships. Including interesting notices on the naval transition to steam. 

    Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, one monochrome folding plate, eleven colour plates, and seventy-eight monochrome plates. Collated, complete.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart, with a few light marks to the cloth. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spots to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clea, with only a few scattered spots.
