A charming volume of poetical imaginative butterfly fairy tales, illustrated by Ernst Kreidolf with unique depictions of humanoid butterflies of varying breeds, as well as anthropomorphic flowers.
Illustrated with a colour title page, and twelve colour plates.
Kreidolf was a Swiss painter, known for his portraits of flower fairies and works for children. He was a leading figure of the Jugendstil movement.
Collated, complete.
Condition
In the original publisher's half cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the extremities. A few very light marks to the boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Dust wrapper is edge worn with closed tears. Light marks to the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with a few scattered spots. Publisher's box is worn with loss. Tidemark to the head of the boards. Light marks and age-toning to the box. Publisher's box is in a good only condition.
