What Our Customers Say...

Description

Limited Edition, Original Binding, Very Scarce

Limited edition of seven hundred and fifty copies, with this being number seventy seven.

Part of The Library of Impostors series.

A limited edition, being a facsimile of Psalmanazaar's 1704 work. With sixteen plates. Collated complete.

Psalmanazaar claimed to be the first native of Formosa (modern day Taiwan) to visit Europe. It was later revealed he was in fact of European origin. This fabricated travel account claimed to describe Formosa's people, customs, religion, and language and included invented rituals and a fake language.

The work is now considered a notable example of early Orientalist fantasy.
