Written by Thomas Alexander Barnes, an English businessman, explorer, big game hunter, author, artist, naturalist and lecturer connected with the opening up of Central Africa by Europeans in the early 20th century.
The author paints an illuminating picture of central Africa, including the fertility of tropical soil, the scope for development of the wealth of its natural vegetation, its metalliferous ores and precious stones, and indicates the respective roles of the white man and the native in its development.
Condition
In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Fading to spine with slight bumping to the head and tail. Light spotting to boards. Previous owner's bookplate to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and bright with light spotting towards the front and rear of the work.
