Complete in eight volumes bound in three.
With a frontispiece portrait to Volume I.
Edited by London Past and Present (1891) author Henry B. Wheatley, President of the Samuel Pepys Club between the years of 1903 and 1910. This edition was first published in 10 volumes between 1893 and 1899. Since then, it has seen numerous reprints.
Spanning the years of 1659 through to 1669, these eight volumes compile the private writings of influential 17th-century figure Samuel Pepys. An important author, politican and collector in his time, Pepys's diaries are what he is most remembered for today. The detail of the works have cemented them an invaluable historical source, providing insight into Restoration England and significant events such as the Great Plague and the Great Fire of London.
