Complete in two volumes. First edition. Each volume is illustrated with a frontispiece and seven half-tone plates. Collated complete. Dealing with events and matters of Asquith's time in the House of Commons, from an outsider spectator to Prime Minister. With the first volume covering topic such as Home Rule for Ireland and Gladstone, and the second volume covering the years 1901 and the continuing Irish Question and parliamentary affairs. Written by Herbert Henry Asquith, 1st Earl of Oxford and Asquith, a British statesman and Liberal politician who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1908 to 1916. He was the last prime minister from the Liberal Party to command a majority government, and the most recent Liberal to have served as Leader of the Opposition.

Condition

Bound in half calf with cloth covered boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing and fading to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting, predominantly to the first and last few pages.
