Description
Original Binding, Original Source, Very Scarce
A delightful personalised scrapbook with clippings from a newspaper tipped in, each with the heading 'About London', and beginning with the line 'Did you know that -' and continuing on to offer a fact about the city.
An inscription to one of the first leaves reads 'with all the best wishes hoping you much enjoy the readings from beloved London Town, Jan 1927'.
With sixty-eight clippings 'About London' inserted, offering discussion of the origins of the V&A, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London, the doors of St Paul's Cathedral, and the etymology of Pall Mall.
A clipping to the final leaf presents an image of the 'Wedding of the Lady Mayoress' outside St. Paul's, dated by hand in ink 6.11.26.
Condition
In a cloth binding, with partially torn clippings and stickers adhered to the front board. Otherwise, externally excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Inscriptions to first and final leaf. Clippings lightly age toned but clean, and firmly adhered.
