'With The Living Voice' is an address given at the First General Meeting of the Scottish Association for the Speaking Verse on the 24th October 1924. First Edition. Limited edition, numbered 248 of 265 copies numbered and signed by the author. John Masefield's signature below the limitation statement. John Masefield was an English poet and writer. He was Poet Laureate from 1930. He believed in the speaking aloud of poetry. He organised Oxford Recitations which was an annual contest to discover good speakers of verse as well as to encourage the speaking of poetry.
Condition
In original quarter vellum with paper covered boards, in original dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart. Spotted to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper is very smart. Sunning to the edges and spine. Small closed tear to the bottom of front page. Offsetting to the internals of wrap at the flyleaves and spine. Offsetting to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
