Conrad's mastery at prose brought a non-English sensibility into English literature. His novels were typically a nautical setting, and his ability to depict the trials of the human spirit in an impassive universe has been celebrated for over a century. 

The proponent of the anti-hero, Conrad's writings have influenced many authors and screenwriters to date.  

An exceptional find with these original dustwrappers in a fine condition.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. With the very scarce original dustwrappers. Externally, the dustwrappers are in fine condition. Just some minor shelfwear to the dustwrapper of volume VI. Patches of discolouration to the board edges of Volumes IV, V, VI, VIII, and XIX. This discolouration, does not affect dustwrappers. Minor damp staining to the edges of volume XVIII affecting the front pastedown. Heavy discolouration to the boards of 'The Rover' volume XX and 'Almmayer's Folly' volume I. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
