Ahmed Hassanein's travelogue records his expedition across the Libyan desert, whereupon he discovered two previously unknown water sources, the "lost oases" of Jebel Uweinat and Jebel Arkenu.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, one map, and twenty-three plates. Collated, complete.
Hassanein was primarily a diplomat and geographic explorer, but lived a varied life that involved fencing in the 1924 summer Olympics, and tutoring Farouk, the king of Egypt from 1936 to 1952.
With an introduction by Sir Rennell Rodd.

Condition
In a full crushed morocco binding, bound by Zaehnsdorf. Externally, smart. Light marks to the boards and spine. A touch of light rubbing to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with only a few very occasional scattered spots.
