The first edition, first impression.

An perceptive history of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, a line infantry regiment of the British Army, that existed from 1678 until 1959. This work looks at the history and military movements of the regiment from its foundation up to the end of the First World War.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, eight folding maps, three colour plates, eight maps, eight monochrome plates, and in-text maps. Collated, complete. 

By the Scottish author best known for his 1915 novel 'The Thirty-Nine Steps', John Buchan.

With a preface by the future King Edward VIII.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine is faded, alongside the head of the front board. Light marks to the cloth. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Spots to the endpapers. Gift inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few scattered spots to the first and last few pages.
