What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Folding Maps, Folding Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

A fascinating work on wildlife photography in Africa, a first hand account written by wildlife photographer Marius Maxwell.

Containing three large folding monograph plates depicting African elephants. Also containing a folding map of Kenya, providing topographical context for the photographical locations.

Also including 109 other illustrated plates from photographs taken by the author. Collated, complete.

Containing a preface by former director of The British Museum of Natural History, Sir Sidney F. Harmer.

This work was first published in 1924 in a limited edition of 500 copies printed by The Medici Society Ltd. This copy is from the 1925 first trade edition printed on Royal Quarto paper.

This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely, with just slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and just very minor shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. The odd spot to the pages, which are otherwise bright and clean.
