A curious monograph on the figureheads and sterns of boats, a detailed study of the decorations of old sailing ships. The plates depict many beautiful figureheads of historical plates.
Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, fifty-five plates, of which seven are in colour, and many in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light rubbing to the joints. A few light marks to the cloth, and light rubbing to the gilt to the front board. Front hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with the occasional scattered spot.
