First edition. A lovely little book and really scarce in the original pictorial dust wrapper The Beechwood Books. With a colour frontispiece and illustrations to the endpapers. A collection of essays and short pieces on the game of cricket, with chapters entitled: Hambledon Men, The Charm of Cricket, Cricket in the Past, Giants of the Past, "Lord's", Batting, Bowling, The Game in Fiction, and more. Edited with a foreword by Samuel J. Looker, a British poet and writer.
Condition
In the original red cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light fading to the extremities and the odd small mark. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. The odd small closed tear with small marks. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
