An extensive history of the Government House in India complete in two volumes, tracing the history of British Government from the Early Government Houses, with descriptions of the Council Houses, the building of the New Government Houses, history of the Victoria Memorial Hall, and more.
Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, two folding plates, and thirty-nine plates. Collated, complete.
Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece, and thirty-five plates. Collated, complete.
By George Curzon, 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston, who served as Viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905 and Foreign Secretary from 1919 to 1924.
The inscription is possibly to G. H. Gough, the Assistant Manager of Rewah State Collieries.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light shelf wear to the spines. A few light marks to the cloth. Small bump to the fore edge of Volume I. Author's inscription to the recto of the front endpaper of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots.
