Illustrated with 115 plates, 22 of which are in colour. Collated, complete. Dust wrapper loosely inserted with the wraps fully disbound. A richly illustrated survey of seafaring and naval adventure across the age of sail, produced by The Studio, drawing on historical voyages, naval battles, exploration, merchant shipping and life at sea. Basil Lubbock (1876-1944) was a sailor-turned-maritime historian and one of the most authoritative chroniclers of the great age of sail, particularly clippers and ocean racing vessels.

In the publisher’s original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Fadig to extremities and spine. The odd minor handling mark. Discolouration to extremities. Previous owner’s bookplate to front paste down. Dust wrapper loosely inserted with the wraps fully disbound, with closed tearing, creasing, chipping, loss, and tape repairs to extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots and handling marks.
