    First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

    The first edition. 

    A two volume set, including years 1925-6. 

    Previously owned by 'Evelyn St Croix Fleming', the English socialite and mother of the noted writer 'Ian Fleming', the author of James Bond'. 

    This set features two collections of stories from a variety of talented authors, with the '1926' collection being notable for its inclusion of Evelyn Waugh's first ever commercial publication 'The Balance', a short story written in a experimental modernist style.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth. Externally smart with fading to the spines, slight leans and handling marks to both, with bumping to the boards and a small closed tear to the head of the front joint to '1926'. Bookplate of 'Evelyn St Croix Fleming' to the front pastedown and bookseller's label to the rear to '1926', and offsetting to the endpapers to '1925'. Internally firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages, with only the odd minor spot.
