A set of five first edition novels by Hugh Walpole.

Each volume is in the original dust wrapper, all unclipped expect for 'Roman Fountain', which is price-clipped.

Hugh Walpole was an author whose works cover a wide range of subjects and genres, from short stories to gothic horror to family sagas. 

This set contains:

'Portrait of a Man With Red Hair: A Romantic Macabre', published in 1925. 

'Jeremy at Crale: His Friends, His Ambitions, and His One Great Enemy', published in 1927. 

'The Joyful Delaneys', published in 1938. Four pages of adverts to the rear.

'Roman Fountain', published in 1940. Illustrated with a frontispiece. 

'The Blind Man's House: A Quiet Story', published in 1941. Four pages of adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original dust wrappers, all unclipped expect for 'Roman Fountain', which is price-clipped. Externally, smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Only a few light marks to the cloth. Spine of 'Jeremy at Crale' is faded. Spots to the fore edge of 'Portrait of a Man With Red Hair'. Front endpaper of 'Roman Fountain' has been removed. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper of 'The Joyful Delaneys' and 'The Blind Man's House'. Dust wrappers are edge worn, with small chips and closed tears, heavier to 'Portrait of a Man With Red Hair'. Wraps are a little age-toned with light handling marks and spots. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Scattered spots to 'Portrait of a Man With Red Hair'.
