What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

The first edition, with the revised and extended edition from 1938. The revised edition, though based on the 1925 first edition, has been greatly extended with new sections and has been updated and brought up to date, relevant to the time of publication.

Two very scarce classified works. Both works have notices explaining that the works were not for general publication, with the information being classified and not to be communicated to anyone not holding an official position in the Military.

A two volume set.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece to each, and fifty-three figures including vignettes, plates and folding plates to '1925', and fifty-nine to '1938', including folding, vignettes, plates and a colour plate. Collated, complete.

Two works from the British war office on the use of explosives in military service. The works cover the definitions of explosives, their physical and chemical properties, the manufacturing processes and much more.

The '1938' edition includes many editorial notations throughout, most likely from a member of the war office.

In the publisher's original cloths. '1925' lacking front free endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloths. Externally smart with fading to the spines, slight edge wear, and minor handling marks. Small closed tears to the joints and spine, a library location to the spine and a slight lean to '1938'. '1925' is lacking the front free endpaper. 'Stationary Office' stamps to '1938'. Internally firmly bound with minimal age toning and the odd spot, and ink notations to '1938'.
