The Avicultural Magazine is a journal of the Avicultural Society whose aims are to study, conserve and maintain viable populations of native and non-native birds in the wild and in captivity. The magazine was the first journal devoted to cage-birds and, along with notes of native birds. Each issue contains a report of the council for the appropriate year, a list of contributors, list of members, rules of the Avicultural Society, and numerous articles. Edited by Reginald Innes Pocock, a British zoologist; Herbrand Arthur Russell, Marquess of Tavistock, an English politician, peer, and noted naturalist; and David Seth-Smith, a British zoologist, wildlife artist, nature broadcaster and author. This set contains: Third Series, Volume XIII: January 1922 to December 1922. Illustrated with two black-and-white plates. Collated complete. Fourth Series, Volume III: January 1925 to December 1925. Illustrated with thirty-five plates, seven of which are in colour. Collated complete. Fourth Series, Volume IV: January 1926 to December 1926. Illustrated with twenty-two plates, nine of which are in colour. Collated complete.
Condition
In the original full green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities with the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Minor age toning to the endpapers. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown.
