The fifth edition of this best-selling book of poetry that begins with an introduction entitled "Just Before We Begin", which, in part, tells readers to imagine for themselves who the narrator is, and that it might be Christopher Robin. A later poem in the book, "Teddy Bear", originally appeared in Punch magazine in February 1924, was the first appearance of the famous character Winnie-the-Pooh. Written by Alan Alexander Milne, an English writer best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh, as well as children's poetry. Illustrated by Ernest Howard Shepard, an English artist and book illustrator best known for illustrations of the anthropomorphic animal and soft toy characters in The Wind in the Willows and Winnie-the-Pooh.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. One or two slight handling mark to front board, with the odd mark to rear board. A couple of spots of damp staining to spine and rear board. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities, more so to head and tail of spine. slight offsetting to endpapers. Slight offsetting to rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean if slightly age toned with one or two spots to fore edge.
