First edition. Illustrated with over one hundred sketches in colour and monochrome, including a colour frontispiece and twenty colour plates. Collated complete. Being both an impression and a memento of the British Empire Exhibition of 1924, created from Maxwells quick sketches in pencil, chalk, pen and ink, wash, oil, and water colour, as he walked the course of the exhibition. With images arranged in sections entitled: In Africa, The Golden West, Lights of Asia, The Pacific Group, and Great Britain and Two Islands. Written and illustrated by Donald Maxwell, an English writer and illustrator, still notable for his topographical paintings.
Condition
In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor loss to the tip of the front board. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers.
