This work features recipe's from the receipt book of Elizabeth Raper and a section of her journal, edited by her grandson Bartle Grant. The sections from her journal provide an autobiographical look at her life as a housewife, with her collection of recipes providing interesting historical information about the food eaten during that time. The original works to which this volume has been compiled from, were written between 1756-1770, with this being the first time the work was printed.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Lacking dust wrapper. Externally smart with fading to the spine, joints and head of the boards, very slight bumping to the extremities of the boards and marks to the boards. Very light spotting to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages and the odd minor handling mark.
