'Daphnis and Chloe' is considered the first pastoral prose romance, written during the Roman Empire by Hellenistic romance writer Longus. It tells of a boy and a girl, both of whom were abandoned at birth, who get fostered by a goatherd and shepherd and fall in love, but are limited by their naivety. 

This edition translated by Irish novelist, art critic and dramatist George Moore.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with shelf wear and minor marks to the boards. Slight darkening to the spine. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
