First edition, in the publisher's original blue cloth binding with gilt motif to the front board.

Written by Michael H. Mason, who was known for his works on the natural world, including 'In Pursuit of Big Fish'. 

This work explores the land in the Far North, of areas including Canada and Alaska, with chapters on The Takudh Kutchin, early discoveries and the natural history of native mammals, birds and fish. Also included are a number of stories of the author's adventures from his travels. 

With fifty-two illustrations, a frontispiece and two folding maps to the rear. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original blue cloth binding with gilt motif to the front board. Externally, smart, with light bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Light rubbing to boards and joints. A touch of fading to the spine. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
