An absorbing autobiographical work, comprising accounts from August Ludolf Friedrich Schaumann, who vividly describes his Peninsula adventures serving as war commissary in the King's German Legion, boarding one of the English ships in 1808. With reference to the camps and quarters, the march to Spain, troubles in Astorga, positioning the army, various attacks, and much more. Translated and edited by Anthony Mario Ludovici, a British philosopher, sociologist, social critic and polyglot.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine and board edges with the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the extremities. Light age toning to the endpapers with the bookseller's label to the front pastedown.
