This address discusses the importance of independence and the sacrifices that are made to obtain it. Kipling also refers to the work of Robert Burns, in particular a stanza which comments on the privilege of being independent.

In the publisher's original hardback with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart with only light shelf wear and the odd spot to the title label. The odd spot to the endpapers. The wrap is smart with sunning to the spine, closed tears to the head, heaviest to the rear, edge wear, a chip to the tail of the spine and the odd slight mark. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages with light spotting to the extremities.
