This is the fourth volume in Margaret Jourdain's English Decoration and Furniture series. It focuses on the period of 1500-1650.

The first edition, first impression of the work, with no further editions or impressions listed.

Full bound in the original publisher's blind stamped and gilt titled cloth, with the original unclipped dust wrapper.

Replete with an abundance of illustrations, both monochrome and colour, plates and vignettes, including a colour plate frontispiece from a watercolour by Joseph Nash.

Uncommonly encountered with the dust wrapper thus.

This is a visually-rich study of the decoration and furniture in England between the years 1500 and 1650 by Margaret Jourdain, an author who produced several significant works on English furniture and decoration. It incudes chapters on woodwork, glass and glazing, staircases, and tables.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very excellent with just a touch of rubbing and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. Wrapper is attractive with some marginal handling marks, slight sunning to the spine, and edgewear, including a few minor chips and closed tears. Offsetting to the free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a trifle age toned however generally bright and clean barring mild foxing, heavier to the outer leaves.
