A scarce edition of Lord Byron's satirical epic poem, following the adventures of the Spanish folk legend of Don Juan.
Percy Bysshe Shelley wrote to Byron praising the work by stating: 'this poem carries with it at once the stamp of originality and defiance of imitation. Nothing has ever been written like it in English, nor, if I may venture to prophesy, will there be'.
With the label of the Nottingham Public Libraries Reference Library to the tail of the front board, and with their ink stamp to the half title, title page, and the head of the first page and final page, and to the head of a small number of further leaves.

In the publisher's original cloth backed paper covered boards. Back strip and boards significantly age toned, with light handling marks. Library label to back strip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Library stamps to half title, title page, head of the first page and final page, and to head of a small number of further leaves. Pages otherwise clean and bright.
