A first edition of this two-volume work in the publisher's original cloth binding; blue for volume I and red for volume II. Limited to seven hundred and eighty sets.

Sir Henry Maximilian Beerbohm (1872-1956) was an English essayist and caricaturist, who was the drama critic for the Saturday Review from 1898 until 1910.

This two-volume set contains a collection of Beerbohm's witty theatre reviews from the Saturday Review. They contain a wealth of information about the world of theatre in the early twentieth century, including a critique of Sarah Bernhardt's Hamlet and his thoughts concerning the work of George Bernard Shaw.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor shelf wear to the extremities. Spine labels are discoloured but intact. Fading to the spine of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for age toning to the end papers.
