First and only edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece, fifty images across forty-two plates, and numerous in-text images. Collated complete. A detailed history of the Shorthorn breed of cattle, which originated in the North East of England in the late eighteenth century, as it was introduced to Aberdeenshire. With chapters on the first Northern herd, the Sittyton tribes, noted Duthie-bred stock, smaller herds of the 'fifties, the Banffshire group, and more. Written by Isabella M. Bruce, a Scottish agriculturalist and author.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the cloth with minor fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with minor age toning to the extremities and endpapers.
