What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated

This one-act play by Hardy, is one of only two pieces of drama written by the author. Designed for 'mummers' the play was designed to be performed by amateur groups, rather than a large scale theatre production. Includes a facsimile in the author's hand, of the title page. Thomas Hardy was a prolific English novelist and poet. Openly critical of Victorian society, his often focused on the situation of those in the rural parts of Britain, in particular the South West. Predominantly a pet and novelist, Hardy only wrote two pieces of drama, one being 'The famous Tragedy of the Queen of Cornwall', the other 'The Dynasts' an epic drama of three parts.
