What Our Customers Say...

Description

The first edition of the work.

In publisher's original green cloth binding.

With a frontispiece, and 12 plates in a pocket to the rear of the work. Collated, complete.

A work that addresses the old controversy regarding the exact location of the Globe Theatre.

Through a wealth of evidence extracted from the records concerning Shakespeare's London, this book is a direct response to William Westmoreland Braine's pamphlet, issued by the London County Council in 1921, in which Braines demonstrated that the theatre must have stood to the south of Maiden Lane in Southwark.

Hubbard, unconvinced by this theory, presents one of the most compelling cases of evidence for placing the site of Shakespeare's playhouse.

Condition

In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Offsetting to endpapers, with pocket of plates to rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light spotting to the front and rear.
