The first edition, first issue of this work, in the first issue Currey 'A' binding, with back strip publisher's imprint stamped in gilt, as called for. With printer's code F.200.123 to page 304, as called for.

In Wells's novel, Mr. Barnstaple, a disillusioned journalist, is accidentally transported from Earth into a parallel Utopia, a society free of disease, government, and sectarian religion, organized around the “Five Principles of Liberty”.
Ultimately, Barnstaple is sent back to Earth, inspired to work toward a utopian transformation of his world, though warned that premature intervention could do more harm than good.
With a 1923 former owner's inscription, from J. Howe, to the front free endpaper.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with blind tooling to front board, and spine stamped in gilt. Back strip lightly age toned, with boards bright. A touch of shelf wear to back strip tail. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
