With an advertisement leaflet for the work. 

Previously owned by Ambrose Heal with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Ambrose Heal was a furniture designer who is best known for being the Chairman of the popular furniture store 'Heal's' (Heal and Son). The work also includes a series pages of translations for the introduction, translated by Heal's daughter Edith. 

A study of decorative handwriting from Peter Jessen, adorned with two hundred examples. The work provides a history of artistic handwriting, providing examples of stunning calligraphy from as early as the sixteenth century. 

In the publisher's limited edition quarter cloth with paper to the boards, and the original unclipped dust wrapper. 

Illustrated with two hundred monochrome plates. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original quarter cloth, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally fading to the extremities of the boards, with minimal edge wear. Bookplate of Ambrose Heal to the front pastedown. The wrap is split in two with loss to the spine and rear, sunning to the extremities, and the odd slight mark. Internally firmly bound with bright with the odd spot, heavier to the front. Spotting to the fore edge. Booksellers stamp to the advertisement.
