With chapters on like "Some Hardy Bulbs," "The Herbaceous Border," "Flowering Shrubs," "Rhododendrons," "Wild Gardening," "Rockwork and Edgings," "Some Weeds," "Some Failures," among others.

Sir Herbert Eustace Maxwell, 7th Baronet (1845-1937), was a Scottish author, horticulturalist, antiquarian and Conservative politician.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight damp staining to front board with scattered spotting to perimeters of boards. The odd slight handling mark to boards and spine with the odd slight scratch. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Article affixed with tape to front free paste down. Previous owner's contemporary inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with slight age toning with one or two spots to fore edge.
