Illustrated with forty-four tipped in colour plates, with captioned tissue guards.
Collated, complete.
During the ‘Golden Age’ of British book illustration Rackham was one of its leading artists. He used expressive line paired with a subtle use of watercolour to create his images. This work contains examples of Rackham's figures of elves, goblins, fairy tale characters, and grotesque and fantastic figures.
With an introduction by Sir Arthur Quiller Couch.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with a touch of shelf wear to back strip tail. A touch of spotting to text block fore edge. Dust excellent for age, with back strip age toned, small closed tear to front wrap head, and two small closed tears to rear wrap head. Handling marks to wraps, most apparent at centre of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with only the odd spot to text leaves.
