These volume are first and limited editions, being one of three hundred and fifty copies printed on wove paper. 

This complete two-volume set offers a fascinating guide to the architecture and history of Westminster Abbey.

Volume one comprises 40 monochrome plates, including a frontispiece, and several vignette illustrations. Collated complete.

Volume two comprises 40 monochrome plates, including a frontispiece, and several vignette illustrations. With an additional colour fold-out map of the Church and Convent of St Peter. Collated complete.

Herbert Francis Westlake was custodian and Minor Canon of the Abbey from 1909 to his death in 1925. He was also assistant keeper of the Abbey's records, and made extensive use of the archives for the writing of this work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, smart. Spine slightly faded. The odd slight handling mark to boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities, more so to volume two, resulting in slight fraying to cloth and a small closed tear. One or two minor spots of damp staining. Slight offsetting with the odd minor spot to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in places, but holding. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot to fore edges.
