Kipling wrote a varied collection of novels, poems, short stories and essays, his best known being 'The Jungle Book'. He was among the UK's most prominent writers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This set contains the following titles:
'The Day's Work' (1923) - A collection of Kipling's short stories, including 'The Ship that Found Herself', 'Bread Upon the Waters' and 'The Devil and the Deep Sea'.
'Captains Courageous' (1925) - An adventure novel that follows a spoiled fifteen-year-old named Harvey Cheyne Jr., who is saved from drowning by a Portuguese fisherman in the North Atlantic.
'Rewards and Fairies' (1937) - A series of historical fantasy short stories acting as a follow-up to Kipling's earlier book 'Puck of Pook's Hill', set one year later.
Condition
Uniformly bound in the publisher's full limp crushed morocco. With an illustrative gilt stamp to the front boards. Externally, very smart, with fading to the spine of 'Captains Courageous' and 'Day's Work'. Also with rubbing to the spine head and tail of those same volumes. The rear hinge of 'Day's Work' is at high risk of detaching with further handling. A signed 'Book Belongs to' bookplate to the front pastedown of 'Rewards'. Internally, generally firmly bound, with the half title and title pages loose but remaining attached. Pages are generally bright and clean, with contemporary ink inscriptions to the front free endpapers.
