In the original publisher's brown cloth binding.

Photogravure vignette portrait of Hudson on the title page. Illustrated plate reproduction a pen sketch by Hudson. Collated, complete. 

The work includes 153 letters from author, naturalist and ornithologist, William Henry Hudson, known in Argentina as Guillermo Enrique Hudson. Hudson began to write fiction, his most popular work being Green Mansions (1904), which was set in a Venezuelan forest. He would later write about life in Patagonia that drew special admiration for his style.
Upon his passing he left nearly his entire estate of to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, of which he was an early member (including earnings from his works). He wanted his notebooks and papers to be destroyed and did not want his life to be written about.

Condition

In the original publisher's brown cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight loss to spine label. Slight bumping to extremities. The odd handling mark to boards. Offsetting to endpapers. Marking to the front paste down with library bookplate from Library of Berea College, Kentucky. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with slight spotting, heavier to the fore edge and first and last few leaves.
