Rohde discusses notable herbalists such as John Gerard, Nicholas Culpeper, and William Turner, and includes analysis of their works and illustrations.
With the bookplate of Martin and Pamela Finch to the front free endpaper. They were antiquarian booksellers with an interest in antiquarian gastronomy.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper age toned to back strip, with handling marks to wraps. Chip to front wrap tail. Closed tear to front wrap tail. Minor chipping to back strip head and tail. Bookplate to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
