First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first edition, first impression of this work, in the very scarce unclipped publisher's dust wrapper, designed by Belloc's friend and frequent collaborator Hilaire Belloc.

In this collection, Belloc narrates the history of Arabic civilisation through the tales a grandfather relays to his beloved grandchildren.

He demonstrates the roles religion and family play in Arab life, while demonstrating how the prosperous grandfather deceived his countrymen to gain a fortune.
