Illustrated with photographs by Donald Mennie, including a frontispiece and eighteen monochrome plates. Collated, complete. 

A fascinating account of this voyage down the Yangtze Kiang, the third-longest river in the world. With descriptions of the character of cities along her banks after one trip to Chungking and back, including Wuhu, Nanchang, Jiujiang (formerly Kiukiang) and the ruins of Yichang (formerly Ichang).

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with fading to the spine and light rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with light spots to the first and last couple leaves only. Ex libris plate of one J. W. Marsden to the verso of the front free endpaper.
